Our real home is not on earth. It is definitely not in this world in which there is a display of an abundance of dwellings that are of all sizes, styles and shapes. To find one's real home, one needs to be strengthened and enlightened in heavenly ways - be worthy of true love by our Maker, know the truth and mysteries of faith, and abide by God's authentic Commandments. We must learn to forgive and forget wrongs done by our friends and enemies. Lack of forgiveness robs us from finding our precious gift in heaven.

In attaining spiritual gifts, an individual path will be illuminated with a clean mind and heart. One day - through the power of prayer, he will be assured of arriving at his true heavenly home. Much of this journey calls for patience and perseverance. It was a Chinese teacher, politician and philosopher Confucius (551 B.C. - 497 B.C.) that taught, “The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home.” Confucius appears to be speaking about our earthly home, but undoubtedly strength through integrity could only be found in “Our Home of Homes” – our spiritual home, heaven.

Our Earthly Home

Our earthly home are wrecked by the horrors of sin – death, disease, malnutrition, poverty and hunger. Many that fight wars do so at their own risk, for these combatants war is truly deadly. On earth we are bombarded by adversity, contagion and bad examples that constantly spell death. People are led astray by worldly enticements that they may not even realize. What we find therefore is needless suffering as angry nations rise up against each other. These experiences of the pits and bogs of life often call for sacrifices of blood, sweat and tears. As we go about daily tasks with impatient minds and hearts there is a lack of self control, for we live in impatient societies where instant gratification has become the norm. This mediocrity of lifestyle can only lead to the loss of our heavenly home, where we are meant to go and what we should aim for, as our final destination of our earthly sojourn.

Elizabeth Kubler-Ross (1926 – 2004) a Swiss-American psychiatrist and pioneer in near-death studies observed, “The beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of those depths.” Despite how  dire the world's situation may be, there is always hope for us that was attested to, by Kubler-Ross. There is hope, for we can still find our way out of these perils.

A Willing Spirit

On leaving these deadly realities in the world, a believer must constantly spread the spirit of goodness. Wherever he may go he must be an effective instrument that touches people. It calls for taking up the cross, bearing its weight squarely on your shoulder, and keep pushing on for the prize. With a gladness of heart, your Christian's mission should be undertaken. When a believer sins he must confess them to Almighty God and be certain that he is forgiven and his life is back in order. By so doing he will be declaring a new and trusting soul to others. In sustaining a willing spirit and realizing that the truth will set men free, must be his goal. By doing these things in his ministry, he will be honoring the Most High in declaring the power of the Holy Spirit that performed miracles as true God and true man, that walked upon the surface of the earth.

Carlos Santana (b. 1947) a Mexican and American musician observed, “The most valuable possession you can own is an open heart. The most powerful weapon you can be is an instrument of peace.” Mahatma Gandhi (1869 – 1948) a preeminent leader of India's independence against the British found, “Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent than the one derived from fear of punishment.” As Christians walk in this conflicted world, they must always be armed with the weapons of peace and love.

Our Eternal Home

After a life of faithful service our eternal home will be our gift. It is not service itself that gets us into paradise, but the grace of God that is a freely given to all mankind. Service to a believer, is just an outpouring of the spirit made manifest through good acts and deeds. In heavenly paradise, a Christian will be blessed with unending and everlasting joy. With his deliverance, there will be profound happiness and thanksgiving where all “Angels of Light” will delight in the splendor of holiness. For their blessed goodness, they will be rewarded everlasting crowns. Where, we will be saying like Rabindranath Tagore (1861 – 1941) a Bengal artist that reshaped Bengali literature, “I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I woke up and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.” Come to think about it, such joy will be unimaginable. What glorious blessings awaits us in our “Home of Homes” - heaven!
